Testimonials from Young People - September 2016
Aimhigher was something I’d never heard of and really didn’t want to do. I thought it would be boring but as soon as I started and got into it, I became interested in what I was doing.
When I found out I had to do a work experience I was very nervous but excited and as soon as I had finished I wanted to go back.
Aimhigher gave me the opportunity to get an apprenticeship at the nursery where I completed my work experience. I got it and I’m still there and having so much fun.
If I hadn’t done Aimhigher I would be at college studying child care but instead I am earning and learning, with hands on practical experience at the same time and I love it!
I thoroughly enjoyed Aimhigher, not only because of meeting the Aimhigher team who are really nice and have a vast knowledge on what type of qualities are essential in the working world but also because they made me realise my own qualities and how I can better myself to fit the work environment.
The opportunities that they offered me played a huge part in my decision about what I want to do in the future. This is how I was able to choose a course I wanted to do at college.
From making my CV with Aimhigher I gained multiple job interview opportunities within 24-36 hours and it was just a brilliant experience overall.
When I first found out about Aimhigher I thought it was going to be one of them boring pointless things that teachers make you go to because they think it’s best for you. So I attended one of the lessons to see what it was like and how it could help me progress in life.
They told us that they want us to succeed in life by knowing there is more out there than just school and college. They explained that we would be taking time to know ourselves better, and to be responsible for ourselves and others.
Natasha really helped me to understand what a CV and a cover letter are used for and why we need them. She helped me gain confidence and know that I can do it if I just believe in myself. My CV looks better than ever now!
Aimhigher also set up interviews so that the students could get a real feel for what an interview would be like. It really has helped me to see what I should say and how to act and what to wear.
I really enjoyed the Aimhigher team building activities, as they taught me how to be a good team leader and a good team worker.
I would recommend this programme to any student because it helped me so much! It really helped me gain self-confidence and helped me find what I wanted to do in life. Before this course I didn’t know what I wanted to do but Aimhigher has changed that for me by helping me experience what it was like to go to Northampton College Booth Lane. We did a load of activities to show us what it would be like if I was going to college and I got showed around the areas that I was thinking about studying in at the time and where I am now studying in.
Many thanks to Aimhigher and I am very pleased to represent them on their website.

Honestly, at first I thought the programme was going to be boring and just another thing to keep students busy in schools, but once I was into it, I really enjoyed it. It helped me understand what the future is really like and it helped me to update my CV. I really appreciate what Aimhigher have done for me.
